NOTE: 13:1-27. Signs of the End of This Age. 2000 years ago Jesus' disciples were very interested in signs of the end of the age - especially in light of Jesus' prophecy concerning the destruction of their Temple at that time. Now 2000 years later, many Christians are still interested in that same subject. From God's point of view, 2000 years is but the equivalent of two days! So indeed, not muchhas changed.

Point by point, as we trace His answer to the question of 4 of his disciples, we find much helpful information. Note especially 13:26-27. Here He tells how He will return, and next on the agenda is His angels gathering us His elect - members of the One New Man, Jew and Gentile. According to this, the saints not yet resurrected do not return with Him, but His angels; then those saints receive their resurrection bodies; then we still on earth are resurrected. Does this fit all theologies? No - but it does seem to fit Scriptures.

13:28-37 - The Need of Watchfulness. Notice that fourtimes Jesus warns His disciples to watchat this last time! If our Lord feels it necessary to exhort us this way so strongly, then we should know that there is great danger of deception and carelessness just preceding His return again. Only twowere watching and alertto His first coming for circumcision at the Temple: Anna and Simeon. May the percentage of those of us alertfor His return be a far greater percentage! J.A.W.
